  • "With Much Love" a presentation by JCHS Curator Leigh Ann Randak, Thursday February 11, 1:00 at the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Citizen Center

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with three historic Johnson County couples.  Get a glimpse of their lives and relationships from letters to their beloved.  Johnson County Historical Society Curator Leigh Ann Randak will read excerpts from letters Sam Hess wrote from the California Gold Fields to his future wife in Iowa City; Jane Kirkwood wrote from their Iowa City home to her husband while he was serving as Secretary of the Interior; and John Coldren wrote to Phila Clark during their time of courtship in Iowa City in the early 1900s.
