Judy NyrenI'm guessing C.. Even though the automobile was in use by 1903, it would not have been common and by 1913 the roads were still unimproved. I have read many stories about people remembering the interurban, so I think it was built in 1913 and peaked in use in the 20-40's.

Johnson County Historical SocietyGreat guess, Judy Nyren! The answer is actually B. Construction was started in 1903, completed in 1904, with passenger service on the 27.5 mile line starting August 13, 1904. Construction cost over $1,000,000 and it was a success from the outset, serving 63 loading points including Coralville, Oakdale, North Liberty, Mid-River, Cou Falls, and Swisher. Paved roads and better automobiles spelled doom for passenger service, causing the Crandic to end service in 1953. Image of Coralville Station.
